HospitalRates.com is an independent project. It is not owned by or affiliated with any hospital, hospital system, insurer or billing company.

Where the numbers come from

Every figure on this site is computed from machine-readable price files that hospitals publish themselves under federal price-transparency rules. The methodology page sets out how each median and average is computed, and the thresholds a figure must clear before it is shown.

What this is not

• Not medical advice, and not financial advice. Nothing here is a recommendation about your care or about what you should do with a bill.
• Not a quote, a guarantee or a bill. A filed price is what a hospital published, not what you will be charged. Your insurance, your diagnosis and what actually happens during care all change the final number. Confirm with the hospital before you act.
• Not complete. Coverage varies by state, and some hospitals file price files we cannot yet read. We would rather show a gap than invent a number.
